On behalf of Chia Ning, Professor of History, Central College.
Dear Scholars in the Manchu Studies,
Dr. Gregory T. Papanikos, President of Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER), and Dr. David P. Wick, Director of the ATINER Division of Arts, Humanities and Education, reached me in early June when I was in Athens. They hope I can help organize a special panel or panels in my specialized area. If the papers fit into a special journal issue, The Athens Journal of Humanities and Arts and the Athens Journal of History will be under consideration. This invitation comes from the TIANER considerable intention to represent the worldwide academic works and fields better and broader, which deserves great appreciation. I think the Qing, the Qing Inner Asian, and Manchu Studies, etc. will benefit from engaging in the international academic arena by accepting this invitation. Here is the document for the ATINER special session/panel https://www.atiner.gr/Sessions-Proposals.pdf.
Your participation is valuable, choosing either the year 2025 or the year 2026. For the 2025 year, there are two events, both in Athens:
- The 23rd Annual International Conference on History & Archaeology: From Ancient to Modern, 2-5 June 2025 (details see https://www.atiner.gr/history), submission due 29 October 2024
- The 10th Annual International Symposium on Culture and Civilization, 9-10 June 2025 (details see https://www.atiner.gr/culture), submission due 5 November 2024
There is an early opportunity, the 12th Annual International Conference on Humanities & Arts in a Global World, 3-4 January 2025 but it might be too soon. I can still work with you if we have enough participants for a panel.
At this point, the panel paper is open to any topic. I lean toward showing what new work we, the U.S. and North American scholars, are doing that takes the lead to the field’s future. The paper topics will shape the panel title later. It will be great if you have three to four scholars or Ph. D. students to have a topic-focused panel of your own.
I understand if you cannot participate for whatever reason. Please still pass this information around. I welcome inquiries and discussions through [email protected] or a Zoom meeting.
Please inform me about your consideration no later than October 1, the earlier the better though. The paper abstract is due to me by October 20 for the 2-5 June Conference and by October 27 for the 9-10 June Symposium.
Thank you!
Chia Ning
